Kent Motorhome Centre, as the name suggests, sell a range of motorhomes from a site in Aylesford, Kent. They wanted a website to showcase their range of luxury vehicles with the primary aim to boost sales and attract a wider audience throughout the south-east.

The brief was fairly clear - the site centres around the vehicle stocklist. This is split into categories with the option to view the entire stocklist. It was important to have a printable version of the stocklist and each individual vehicle. It was decided that to keep the initial investment low, we would not include any additional functionality, such as invoicing although the database would be designed in such a way that future expansion would be an add-on rather than a rewrite.

The site was built using a SQL Server database which holds all the information regarding each motorhome. This is key to the site and will allow a full history to be kept as well as future integration with a custom written invoicing package or Sage.

Naturally, one of the key elements to a site like this is imagery, therefore we wrote an admin section that allows full input of motorhome details and a facility to upload multiple images direct from a digital camera. The admin section automatically scales the images for the website and requires very little training or input from the operator. A new vehicle can be added in seconds.

The other key area was the vehicle stocklist - the site gives the user to print out a full stocklist or a single vehicle's details. In fact, the company use this to display the particulars of their motorhomes and hand out stocklists to prospective clients when they are onsite.

Once complete, the site was listed on Google and an AdWords campaign was set up, which has proved to be hugely successful, having a massive impact on turnover.
