Aside from promotional/product driven websites, the internet is also a perfect medium for software applications that require access from anywhere around the world.
For example, we have built our own web-based product that allows our support engineers to enter job details onsite, either through a PC with an internet connection or from a mobile telephone. This system is linked to an internal database and application that allows invoices to be auto generated and the details seamlessly inserted into sage.
Other applications we have developed in this way include parking enforcement, where images of vehicles parked illegally are captured on a mobile telephone and the details inserted into an interface available using the phone's internet connection. This automatically updates the control room operators with full details in real-time. We have also given remote access to clients (e.g. local councils wanting to see who is parked illegally on their estates).
